South Side Hay Ride

Tentatively, the hayride is scheduled for Saturday, October 18th at 1:00 p.m.. This will be at Norm Saylor's farm in Tipton.

Youth Night at the Bellwood Football Game!

Meet near the High School Auditorium NO LATER than 6:00 p.m. Players and cheerleaders will not have to pay admission to the football game. We will be introduced during the Pre-Game Show. All players MUST wear their team jersey. Attendance will be taken so the school has a count of how many were admitted to the game. Cheerleaders will cheer with the BA Varsity Cheerleaders during the game.(I will update with what quarter they will be cheering)

South Side vs. East Antis- The Night Games!!

South Side's A team and B team, both gained another victory. This time against East Antis.

The B Team fought hard throughout the game to maintain victory. It was a back and forth fight until the end, with a score of 36 - 34. Way to go B Team!!!

The A Team out scored East Antis with a score of 50 - 14. What an exciting last day of the regular season!!! Both teams ended the season in a great show of determination and heart for the game of football. We can't wait to see what will be in store for South Side next season.

South Side takes on West Antis

The A team scored a win over the West Antis A team this past Saturday with a score of 42 - 6. They put forth a good offense and defense, scoring touchdowns and only letting the West Antis offense score one time. This has been a great year for South Side's A team with only 2 losses.

The B team fought an incredible fight against the West Antis B Team. The score remained 0 - 0 until the last 2 minutes of the game, when West Antis scored a touchdown. The B Team definitely gets an "A" for effort as they have also had a great season with the young players and the returning players showing a great deal of promise and determination.

As we go into our last game of the season on Saturday, we need to hold our heads high and be proud of the great accomplishments that have been made this year. The Coaches and players have shown great team spirit and heart as the South Side Vikings have had their best season yet!! Let's go into Saturday's game with the heart and drive that we have had all season, no matter what, we will end as winners, because we have come together as teammates and friends. Nothing is stronger than the bond of players/teammates that play and practice together, keep that bond as you move through this year and into next season.

Let's grab that last win over East Antis!!!

South Side succumbs to North Side, but not without a fight!!

The A Team and B Teams worked hard in the fight against North Side, but in the end it wasn't enough to pull out a win. Nevertheless, the South Side players should feel great pride for the way they played on Saturday. The A team got off to a great start, scoring early, but North Side rallied back. The score was closer than any team ever gets to North Side, 20 - 26. Again, a win was within our reach. This will be great motivation when we meet again next year!!

The B team scored 2 touchdowns against North Side. This is a great accomplishment, since no team has scored that many touchdowns against them this year. This tells us, that North Side is a team we can beat. Next year will be a new season with a clean slate. North Side will be the waiting and we will be ready. We will meet again and the players need to hold their heads up high, for we are SOUTH SIDE and no matter what, we are winners! Winners in team work, dedication and determination. As long as you put forth all you have, all of your heart, into every tackle, every run, every pass, you are the true winners!!!!!! And we are PROUD!!!!!

South Side Vikings Win Big Over East Antis!!

Both the A team and the B team gained another victory this week over the East Antis Rams.

The A team won with a score of 36 - 0. That's right, you read it right!!! 36 - 0!!! Again this week, another team, this time the East Antis Rams, didn't have a chance against the Vikings A team's offense and defense.



The B team won their game with a score of 30 - 12. The B team continued to grow and come together as a team. Their continued determination carried them through their victory over the East Antis Rams.


Both teams need to carry this fierce determination into next week when we come face to face with the North Side Red Devils!!!!!

South Side Victorious Against West Antis!!

Way to go A team and B Team!!!! Both teams overcame the extreme heat for Sunday's victory, which was one that everyone should be proud of! Everyone is proving that they can do their part to work together as a team.

The B team won with a score of 28 - 6 over West Antis. The West Antis Packers scored early and that was all it took for the Vikings to get fired up and take over the game. Way to go B Team players!!

The A team blew away the West Antis A Team. They won with a score of 36 - 0. That's right! 36 - 0!! The West Antis Packers did not get a chance to score as the Vikings dominated the field.

Let's keep up this momentum, determination, and team spirit as we practice to take on East Antis this Saturday and the North Side Red Devils next Saturday!!!!

The games that were cancelled for Sat. (Sept. 13th), will be played on Sunday, Sept. 14th. The games will be played at the same times that they were originally scheduled.

Be at the field 1 hour prior to game time.

All games for Saturday, September 13th have been cancelled due to the heavy rains we received on Friday. As soon as we know when this game will be rescheduled, we will let everyone know.

Cheer Dance!

The cheerleaders are now learning their cheer dance for the night game. It is very important for ALL girls to be at ALL practices to learn this dance. Please do your best to be at every practice from here on out.

South Side vs North Side - Part 1

Wow what a week!!! Two fun and exciting games. Our young B team demonstrated great potenial and are starting to come together as a football team. The coaching staff feels confident that with time and practice the team will improve every week and every game. They hung in there until the end with great spirit and dedication. Keep up the good work B team!!

So here we go. bring it on Packers!!

The A Team showed that they can PLAY!!! 2 points and 2 seconds seperated the A team from celebrating a huge victory against the always strong North Side Red Devils. As with the B team, they showed great determination against North Side and should be very proud of the way they played the game. There is always next time, A TEAM!!!!!

The South Side Vikings Cheerleaders are getting ready for the new season as well. South Side Picnic

One of our South Side traditions is to have a picnic before the official season begins. The picnic will take place this Saturday, August 23rd @ 10:30 a.m. It will be at the practice field across from the fire hall. It is a great chance for parents and coaches to get to know each other.

We ask that each family brings a covered dish. Also, a blanket and/or chair(s).

Wear your sneakers!!! We will playing touch football! Teams will be established and we will play parents against the players. This is always lots of fun!! Yes, Moms, this means you too!!!!

We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday morning!!

Second Day of Practice - Helmets and Pads

Today was the second day of practice for South Side. The evening practice was the first time the players wore their full gear with pads and protective equipment. It was a night of running and finally hitting!! We saw kids in formations as well as still conditioning. The Coaches are very pleased with the progress of all the players.

Please remember to have your child bring a water bottle. It is very important to stay hydrated during practice. Water will also be provided at practice, but it is important for everyone to have their own water bottle as well.

The First Football Practice

The day has finally come!! A new season has officially begun with the first football practice taking place today, August 18th!! What a day!! The first day of practices went very well, with many new faces and the veterans from last year reappearing for another year of South Side Football!!

South Side Vikings 2008!!

Welcome to the South Side Vikings youth football blog. This blog will be updated regularly to keep you informed of everything going on with South Side. We are looking forward to a great 2008 season. The coaching staff and cheerleading advisors hope your children have fun while learning the fundamentals of foootball and cheerleading. There will also be an emphasis placed on good sportsmanship, commitment, and TEAMWORK!!

Concession Stand

We have been assigned the following dates to run the concession stand during the games:

Saturday, Sept. 6 - Quarterback Club Concession Stand (Near Main Entrance)

B Team plays at 12:30 A Team plays at 2:00

Saturday, Sept. 13 - Quarterback Club Concession Stand

B Team plays at 12:30 A Team plays at 2:00

Saturday, Sept. 20 - Band Parent Concession Stand

A Team plays at 3:30 B Team plays at 5:00

We need each family's help in order to run a profitable concession stand. We run the stand ALL DAY on our assigned day. If EVERYONE volunteers, running the concession stand will be a TEAM EFFORT!!

If you have not signed up yet, please contact Marsha Stapleton ASAP!!

Practice Schedule

The first day of practice is Monday, August 18th.
The first week will consist of two-a-day practices.

The morning practices will be 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

Players need to wear T-shirt, shorts and their helmet to this practice.

Please make sure your child brings a water bottle with their name on it.

The evening practice will start promptly at 5:00 p.m. and will last until 7:00 p.m.

ALL players MUST wear their full gear to this practice. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
